Sports Updates

SELECT SIGNEES
With a large crowd of classmates, friends, and family looking on, three Columbus East student athletes signed college letters of intent Wednesday afternoon: Taylor Chitty- IUPU Fort Wayne- soccer; Luke Hampton- University of Findlay (OH)- football; and Andrew Wilson- Butler- football.  And a fourth recruit, Gunner Kiel, is already enrolled and attending classes at Notre Dame.

MORE SIGNINGS
Next Wednesday Columbus North will have a signing ceremony for : Myra Retrum- Indiana- swimming and Kristin Van Deventer- University of Virginia- swimming.

GRIDBIT
Columbus East football pride night will be on Friday, February 3rd, when the O's host Jennings County.  All 8th grade athletes will be admitted free.

RESCHEDULED
The Hauser at South Ripley varsity and reserve boys basketball games have been rescheduled for Monday, February 13th.

TIDBITS
*The Columbus East at Jeffersonville varsity and reserve boys basketball games postponed January 20th and initially rescheduled for February 8th, will now be played at Jeffersonville on February 21st.

*The 500 race car to be displayed at the Commons during Super Bowl Week will represent the St. Louis Rams.

TRACK COACH
Lou Sipe is the new Columbus North head boys track coach.  Sipe also is an assistant football coach at Columbus North.

PARKS & REC
Spring Youth Soccer and Babe Ruth Baseball registration is underway.

SWITCHEROO
The Bloomington South at Columbus North boys basketball game on Friday, February 3rd, will be played instead as part of a 3-game Super Bowl Weekend package at Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.  Game time will be 7:00 PM on February 3rd.
